Living as God’s Beloved.
This was our theme for our creative gathering, with the sweet women of Elim Evangelical Free Church. What a joy-filled day! They were welcoming, excited and ready to experience God in a new and different way. The church decor was not only relaxing and inviting it was the perfect setup for what we do at made. They served up a delicious meal of hearty soups, bread and salad and the hospitality and fellowship was genuine and inclusive!
I was filled with anticipation too.
I always am.
It is such a privilege to share God’s truth with others. Sharing the word of God through the creative process can be scarey but from the photos all you can see is creative joy and fun!
As a creative and a maker of things, I marvel at what an imagination can do if given space, time and encouragement! I love teaching (if you know me personally you would say that is an understatement) but it is true. I am always tickled when I give the same set of instructions and the same medium to work with, to a room full of inspired women. I never tire of seeing the eyes widen in discovery or the infectious smile triggered by the spark that ignites creative inspiration.
This Creative Gathering was no exception. The Creative Team provided guided creative activities through listening and quieting exercises, watercolor play, journaling and group discussion and a clay project. All of these activities disengaged the analytical mind allowing the language of the imagination to form something outside of themselves. They got to see their thoughts, ideas, even their faith and gain new perspective. All through the lense of scripture and Living as God’s Beloved. It was an amazing day!
What I also never tire of, is the connection that is made as sisters in Christ. It is wonderful to watch the creative circle grow as the Lord leads us in new directions. May the Kingdom of the Lord continue to be proclaimed and women of Elim never forget that you are fearfully and wonderfully…made.
Here are some memories from our day, enjoy!

Where are you going?
Do you have a map or a plan?
How will you get there?
Why are you going?
I often ask my kids these questions. Seems silly even now that they are in college. Call me an overprotective mom, but they are essential questions that equip us no matter what journey we take. Whether it is back to college or off on a new career path or into uncharted waters. The beginning of a new year seems to be a time when we reorient our compass and course correct. Which means, it is a good time to ponder these questions once again.
So, however you answer these questions this new year, I hope that you will take time to remember your extraordinary story, contemplate your value, and cultivate new ideas and a new future. Oh and don’t forget, make space for creative expression, because often it is the language that can help you make your map and get you where you are headed.
Here’s to creating space for personal growth, spiritual connections and deep understanding in our lives this year! Enjoy slow, deliberate, meanderings along your path, use your map and above all never lose site of why you are going on the journey.
Wishing you a Happy New Year!

It was time, time to head outta town.
We needed to getaway to focus, plan, and dream. The Creative Team at made. headed out to a quaint little village called Leavenworth, in the beautiful Cascades of the Pacific Northwest. Our purpose was to spend time together encouraging, praying and planning our next amazing fall gathering.
We arrived at our destination and to our surprise and delight, our cabins were right on the Wenatchee River.
What an amazing weekend we had dreaming together. You will be in for a treat this fall and I couldn’t be more excited about what we have got in store for you dear attendees! “I was blessed n numerous ways, I was encouraged, stretched, blessed and welcomed. Not knowing anyone except my one friend was exciting to me. I will talk to a tree stump! I loved hear about others in their praises and their struggles. We’re all in different spots in our walk. Because of this, sometimes we’re guides and sometimes we’re the ones trying to find our way. I have raved about my day at made. I came away with a full cup! Thank you for replenishing!” ~Terri
“Tapping into a community of women who care for one another was beautiful in itself. Being encouraged to do soul work by creating, discovering, and layering was a gift from God, with uncanny timing. “~Joan
“There is no society on earth that does not attempt to decorate or embellish or enhance its, dwelling places, its garments, its artifacts, its language, or the human body itself-either with graphic design, or fabric, or song, word, or ritual. Maybe art and religion are aligned because religion also addresses the world in its attempt to seek and find, knock, and trust that God will open the door to truth, beauty, and the meaning of our living.
Art lays bare our realities. And religion opens our experience up to God.”
Luci Shaw from Breath for the Bones, 2007

Things you didn’t know you could do!
I can still hear all your voices singing praises to the Lord. I can still hear your heartfelt affirmations to one another. I still see the colors and drawings of things you thought you couldn’t do. Your laughter and gratitude ring loud in the hearing of my ears. What a day, what a fantastic, creative day!
We thank you for choosing us as part of your weekend, for spending time exploring your creative self and connecting in new ways to Our Creator God, Elohim! I am working on a slideshow of high lights from our Spring Gathering and when it is finished I will post it under Spring Gathering.
Remember what the Potato Farmer did?
Another thing that would be a great help to us, is to take a minute and fill out our survey. You should’ve gotten it in your email inbox. Or you can take it HERE This feedback helps us so much in how we plan our next Creative Gathering.
What do you remember about seeds?
FYI: The Creative Team takes a bit of a break in the summer months but if you signed up to get us in your inbox, then you will hear the latest and greatest as we post it. Leave us a message via the Spring Gathering page and we will respond as soon as we are able.

Man do I need Jesus! You know, the older I get the more I know this to be true of my life. I am reminded of this sentiment when in fellowship with other believers, or when I am muttering through a quite time, but mostly, when I am creating and working on my art. That is when the Lord and I do soul work.
This year was a difficult one for my family and I. We dealt with some heavy burdens. The kind of burdens you would gladly hand over to Jesus and then run the other way, while yelling thhhaannnkkss! Silly image right? Maybe you know what I mean. But I know, that I know, it is through our sufferings that we come to know how amazing our God is and what a friend we have in Jesus! Suffering is the exposure we need so that we can grasp onto the hem of His garment and say I need Jesus!
from the Passion of the Christ
As I come out of the clouds of heavy burden into the light and life of Easter it all just hits me fresh, man do I need Jesus!
Do you need to do some soul work? Perhaps you desire to set aside some time for you and the Lord to restore the “joy of thy salvation?” If you said yes, then I would like to invite you to made. A Creative Gathering coming May 2nd!
- A time of encouragement, where you will learn that your story matters.
- A time to reflect and learn about your creative connection to a Creator God.
- A time to fellowship with those who are seeking and learning about the creative process.
- A time to reorient yourself and do a bit of your own creative soul work.
